Kani patterning is the densest of our designs - motif packed against motif, so the colour shifts as the fabric moves. This piece takes that density further, working the whole body as a diamond jaal, each cell filled with its own small floral motif, then breaking the grid at either end with a single oversized paisley worked in the same muted rose and charcoal palette. The effect is closer to an antique carpet than a conventional shawl border - patterned throughout, with no plain ground anywhere. Each piece is finished by hand, so small variations in weave and colour are a signature of the maker rather than a flaw.
