Nalki is a traditional Kashmiri embroidery style made up of dense, slightly raised stitches that give each motif texture and depth. This is a jama shawl, which means the embroidery covers almost the whole body of the shawl. Across the sage green ground, bright orange marigold rosettes, rich red lotus blooms and plum heart-shaped paisleys wind along dark, slender vines, with small autumn leaves and berry clusters scattered between them.
